About us

Longshoremen’s Local 4 Federal Credit Union was established on the evening of March 1, 1956. The original name of the credit union was 1-4 Federal Credit Union. It was located in the hiring hall with limited hours of operation. We were founded by Local 4 Longshoremen to serve members of Local 4 and their families. Originally, a limit was placed on deposits of $1,000 and an unsecured loan maximum of $200. We have come far in our 60 plus years of service. Now, we offer personalized service, various loans at competitive rates, and numerous products for your convenience.

Membership

As a member (depositor), you are an owner. There are no outside stockholders. The Board of Directors consists of members who have been elected by fellow members. You are eligible to join the credit union if you meet the membership criteria. To be a member you must work or have worked for one of the following:

  • International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 4
  • Local 4-A
  • International Brotherhood of Boilermaker’s Local 104 (Vancouver/Portland Members)
  • Inlandboatmen’s Union of the Pacific-Portland, OR

Once a member, your family is also eligible to join. Applying for credit union membership is easy. All it takes is an initial deposit of $5.00 (one share), which establishes your partial ownership of the credit union.
